• How a Book is Made: Mark shares his journey of writing The Adventures of William and Thomas, from idea to publication. Kids love hearing how stories come to life!

Bring Your Stories to Life with Author Mark!

Looking for an engaging and interactive author visit for your school? Mark brings storytelling to life with exciting read-alouds, fun activities, and an inside look at how books are created. Students will meet the characters from The Adventures of William and Thomas, explore the writing process, and even help create their own dialogue and story ideas! With a mix of visuals, audience participation, and creative storytelling, Mark’s school visits inspire young readers and writers to use their imagination and bring their own stories to life!

• Ask Me Anything: Kids can ask Mark questions about writing, being an author, or the characters in his books. This can be a hilarious thing!

• Character Q&A: Mark does his best to pretend to answer as William or Thomas as he lets the kids "interview" them.

• Create Your Own Adventure: Students will be guided through creating their own adventure story, just like William and Thomas. A simple template will be provided: characters, setting, problem, and solution.

• Dialogue Tag Challenge:  Show students how dialogue brings characters to life. Students will write funny or dramatic dialogues between characters they create.

Cover Design Fun: A fun tour from early ideas to the most recent cover. Mark shows the kids the original covers and talks about the redesign for I Retold You So!. Students are encouraged to design their own covers for a story.
